Production deliveries of Aircraft Gateway Processor (AGP) begin

.SELEX Galileo has begun deliveries on its Aircraft Gateway Processor (AGP)pdf.pdf (149 KB) to Boeing Integrated Defence Systems (Mesa, AZ). The system will be installed as Group A equipment on AH-64D Apache Longbow helicopters operated by the U.S. Army and export customers. The milestone follows a three year development program which grew the AGP from concept to capability, enabling US Army Aviation's first Integrated Aircraft Survivability Suite.

The AGP is an Aircraft Survivability Equipment (ASE) processor, designed to integrate sensors and countermeasures to provide crews with a range of benefits including a combined threat picture and user-defined tactical responses. Weighing just 7.6 lbs (3.45 kg), the AGP is derived from the ASE processor in the combat-proven and highly regarded Helicopter Integrated Defensive Aids System (HIDAS), installed on UK, Kuwaiti and Greek Apache Longbow helicopters.

The success of the U.S Apache AGP implementation was a contributing factor to its 2007 selection by the UK MoD as part of an Urgent Operational Requirement (UOR) to upgrade RAF Chinook helicopters. The AGP was configured for the CH-47D mission in less than a year and has been deemed a success by the MoD and Chinook crews alike. The subsequent selection by UK MoD of the same system to protect RAF Puma Mk 1 helicopters further enhances SELEX Galileo's pedigree in ASE integration.

David Husband, VP EW Business Development said, "The feedback that we have received on the AGP has been very encouraging. We're continually looking to explore opportunities for the AGP and looking forward to working with new and existing customers to provide integrated EW Capability on both fixed and rotary wing platforms."
